LA+ is an exhibition series that platforms artists and cultural practitioners from the La Perouse Aboriginal Community. Presented in dialogue with the broader First Nations arts and cultural ecosystem, LA+ is a site of self-determination, collaboration and exchange.

Built on self-determination, Malima and Numbulwar Numburindi Arts are collectives of artists dedicated to keeping culture strong. At Malima, the family-run business shares cultural knowledge, stories and practices that have been passed down through generations. Champions of fibre art, Numbulwar Numburindi artists marry naturally-dyed and locally-harvested pandanus with bright and bold ghost nets, abandoned fishing line retrieved from Numbulwar’s shoreline. Once a deadly threat to marine life, ghost nets are reclaimed by the artists and transformed into vessels of story and strength.
